The Perfect Girl’s Weekend Itinerary for Wichita, KS

Looking for a reason to get out of KC over the holidays but don’t want to mess with the hassle of flying during this crazy time, we got you! Wichita, KS is less than 3 hours from Kansas City and offers the perfect amount of unique eateries, fun activities and cool cocktail bars and breweries to enjoy a weekend away with your best girlfriends.

Where to Eat and Drink:

Happy Hour, Cocktails and Dinner: DOMA

DOMA is a modern American restaurant with something for everyone.  Their menu offers so many unique options and their cocktail list is fire… literally.  If you order the Mango Tango Fuego they light the drink on fire tableside. Their happy hour had so many great options and is even offered on Saturdays!  We recommend the bao buns and the asian wings!

Beer and Cocktails: Nortons Brewing

From the outside, Nortons may not look like much but as you enter, it’s as if you walked through the doors of Naria to an amazing outdoor oasis.  Their outdoor patio is unrivaled by design and a great place to bring kids too.  Check out their seasonal beers, cocktails and bites that offers something for beer lovers and spirit lovers alike.

Cocktails and Coffee: Botanic at Grow

Right in downtown Wichita is a wonderful little spot that has a super cool atmosphere, amazing martinis and delicious coffee.  We stumbled upon Grow during their comedy night and had so much fun, we came back the next day for coffee. Surrounded by plants and home decor, the bar and cafe offers a unique experience (and lots of great Instagram photo backgrounds if we do say so ourselves.)

Brunch: HomeGrown Kitchen

Did you know HomeGrown Kitchen started in Wichita? Their modern brunch restaurant offers seasonal dishes, tasty coffee drinks and morning cocktails list mimosas and whiskey maple cream latte. We highly recommend the pumpkin bread french toast, not to be confused with pumpkin flavored french toast, this is literal pumpkin bread cooked in french toast batter and it was so delicious!

Coffee and Breakfast: Coffee Daze

If you’re looking for a quick coffee stop or light breakfast, Coffee Daze is the spot for you. Their signature coffee drinks have unique and delicious flavors and their fancy toast options the perfect addition.  PS - we got one of each toast and can confirm, you can’t go wrong with any!

Lunch and Drinks: Public

We loved the cool and eclectic atmosphere of Public located right in Old Town.  This would also be a great stop to watch football on a Saturday.  We came for the cheese curds and stayed for the pizza served with their homemade hot honey - it may seem odd, but trust us, you’re not gonna want to pass on it.  It’s also connected to Brickyard, where you can catch some live music!

Dinner: Elderslie Farm

If you’re going to Wichita, don’t skip this spot! This super unique restaurant is a literal farm to table dining experience 15 minutes outside Wichita. They are only open on Fridays and Saturdays and offer a 5-course prix fixe menu that changes every six weeks because it changes with the seasons. If you aren’t able to make it for dinner, you can also check out their daytime cafe and blackberry picking when it’s in season.  They also have a restaurant inside the Wichita Art Museum if that is on your itinerary.

What to Do:

Old Town Farm and Art Market

If formal museums aren’t your thing, no worries, you can still get a taste of art in Wichita at their weekly Farm and Art Market located right in the heart of Old Town.  This market has a little something of everything from coffee and pastries to soaps, photography, homemade noodles and more.

Kansas Aviation Museum

Ever wanted to see a jet, a giant US Air Force plane, or a little cessna up close? Make sure to check out the outdoor exhibit at the Kansas Aviation Museum lets you get up close and personal with over a dozen different planes.  You can also try your hand at flying a plan (simulation, of course) and see the viewpoint from an airport control tower.

Keeper of the Plains (Fire Sculpture)

This 44-foot statue was created by a local Wichitan and Native American artist.  Every night the ring of fire around the statue is lit creating a beautiful scene that can’t be missed. Check out the link to see what time it will be burning depending on what season you are visitng.

Shopping:

2 Beatz Boutique

We loved this cute boutique that recently opened in downtown Wichita. So many great pieces for the season.

The Hereafter Vintage Store

Spend time going through the unique selection of vintage clothing to find the perfect item for you.

Clifton Collective

Located in the cutest little cul-de-sac of shops, make sure to check them out for gifts, home goods, cute tees, kids clothes and more.
