Girl’s Weekend Getaway from KC: Springfield, Mo
When it comes to planning a girls' weekend getaway, Springfield, Missouri, may not be the first destination that comes to mind, but it certainly deserves your attention. Nestled in the heart of the Midwest, and only 2.5 hours from Kansas city, this city offers a unique eateries, fun atmospheres and a great cocktail scene. We quickly found ourselves wondering, why hadn’t we taken a girls trip or couples trip to Springfield earlier. If you want to plan your out weekend getaway from KC to Springfield, here are the places the made the top of our list to visit.
Where to eat:
Cocktails, Apps, Rooftop Views: Vantage Rooftop Bar
Looking to get dressed up, drink some tasty cocktails and take a few photos for Instagram while you’re at it. This it the place for you! The aesthetic of the bar itself was what drew us in but the perfectly crafted cocktails and delicious appetizers kept us there. Go at sunset to catch the last bit of light over the city and enjoy a night out on the rooftop patio.
Lunch, Drinks and Activities: Finley Farms - The Ozark Mill
Finley Farms is a must-visit destination during your Springfield getaway. This picturesque location offers a plethora of activities, from yoga in the morning to cocktail making to wandering through lush gardens. You and your girlfriends can indulge in a delightful farm-to-table dining experience at The Ozark Mill, savoring fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. The tranquil ambiance and friendly staff create a serene atmosphere, making it an excellent spot to visit.
Pastries and Coffee: Blue Heron Farm and Bakery
Make sure to drop by Blue Heron Bakery. This hidden gem offers a delightful array of artisanal bread, pastries, and other baked goods that are sure to make your mouth water. Whether you're looking to grab some goodies for the journey home or enjoy a delightful breakfast with your girlfriends, Blue Heron Bakery's creations will leave a lasting impression. Don't forget to try their famous cinnamon rolls – they are simply heavenly!
Casual Dinner and Dessert: Prairie Pie and Therefore Pizza
Pie and Pizza pies all in one spot. Prairie Pie specializes in mouthwatering pies made from scratch with love and care. Whether you're a fan of classic apple pie or adventurous enough to try a creative flavor like lavender honey or salted caramel chocolate, Prairie Pie will leave your taste buds singing with joy. Therefore Pizza, located inside Prairie Pie, is open through Saturday for dinner and it might be some of the best pizza we’ve ever had (and we don’t take that claim lightly).
Coffee and Breakfast: Black Lab Coffee Co
This hip and vibrant coffee shop embodies Springfield's local spirit. Go here for the crafted coffee drinks, including a coffee flight. You can make it hot or iced and choose from a long menu of dog-themed drinks.
Cocktails and Tasty Bites: Golden Girl Rum Club
Visit Golden Girl Rum Club in Springfield, Missouri, for a unique tiki bar experience with a vibrant and tropical atmosphere. The bar offers an extensive selection of rums from around the world, expertly crafted into creative and delicious cocktails by skilled mixologists.. With Instagram-worthy decor and tempting happy hour specials, Golden Girl Rum Club is a great stop on your trip.

Okay, in all honesty, we didn’t stay here ourselves but after walking through the lobby, we were already planning our next trip back. Right in the middle of Downtown Springfield, Hotel Vandivort is perfectly located for walking to several local restaurants and bars. The hotel’s attention to detail and chic aesthetic had us in awe the whole time.
What to do:
If you have time left over after checking out all the yummy food scene, there are several fun things to do in Springfield, MO.
Commerical Street in Uptown, Springfield: The local shops are fun for wandering around and we loved meeting all the store owners. You will find everything from kitchen stores, home décor and handmade furniture, floral and party necessities to a rollerblading store. There is also a cute little farmer’s market on Saturday mornings that you can stop by.
Smallin Civil War Cave: This cave is the largest cave in the state of Missouri.. and that’s saying something coming from the cave state. The mouth is 55 ft tall and the cave served as a shelter for soldiers during the Civil War.
Finley Farms: Okay, I know we already mentioned this one on our food list but they have so many fun activities offered as well that it had to make our list for things to do. Check out the Happenings section on their website for all kinds of classes and things to do with your girlfriends while in town.
